How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
Progressive
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.) Yes, but no one in state-level leadership
Have you ever held public office before? No
If yes, please list the office(s) and term(s):None
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not? Yes, it’s a great alternative to prescription meds
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis? Yes
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records? Yes, that’s on my platform
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors? yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones? no
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? Yes. No money in politics.
Power Grid & Infrastructure:What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid? Build a stronger grid, diversify power sources, tax the crypto farms more to pay for grid improvements
Immigration: What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care? Everyone should have the same human rights, regardless of legal status. ICE’s inhumane enforcement must be stopped.
Property Taxes: Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? Yes. This is a LONG answer, but property taxes can’t be abolished until we can properly tax our billionaires and corporations. But we can at least end property taxes on seniors on a fixed income.
Property Taxes: Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? Yes. This is a LONG answer, but property taxes can’t be abolished until we can properly tax our billionaires and corporations. But we can at least end property taxes on seniors on a fixed income.
Women’s Rights: What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas? I’m pro choice. I want to amend heartbeat bills from 6 weeks to 20 weeks, and get the government out of our doc offices, bathrooms, and underwear. Women’s right need to be codified into law.
LGBTQ+ Rights: How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality? We need to get the government out of our doc offices, bathrooms, and underwear. Every Texan should have the exact same rights, codified into law.
Healthcare: What type of healthcare system do you support? Universal healthcare
Healthcare: Please explain why you support that healthcare system? They pay their taxes. They shouldn’t have to go through a third party to pay more money to get care. Especially in state-funded clinics. Texas is the 7th largest economy in the world, tied with Canada. Why don’t we have the same care and protections?
Veterans & Homelessness: What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment? We need proper veteran care, accessible and free to veterans. I have a housing initiative for all homeless Texans. I also have an employment initiative for all Texans. Veterans will remain a protected class for hiring purposes.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide? Treating it not like a crime, but like a problem that needs to be solved with compassion.
2nd Amendment: What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose? I support responsible gun ownership. My platform has the most aggressive gun reform in the history of Texas. Red flag laws, weapons training for new purchases, mandatory background checks, mental health evaluations, and temporary storage with law enforcement. It’s a very very basic start, but it’s incredible progress compared to the lip service we’ve been getting.
1st Amendment: How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas? Ensuring that there’s truth in media, truth by representatives, and that protests and strikes are never stopped by the government or on behalf of the government.
Term Limits & Age Limits: Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not? Yes to both! The Texas government should not be a retirement home, and running for congress should not be a retirement plan. 8 years total, no one over 60 at the time of appointment.
Why should voters trust and support your campaign? Trust is belief without proof. I follow all of my words with action, and never contradict myself.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective? Nope

How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
I am a Bleed Blue Democrat. I'm running to bolster jobs, improve healthcare, and make life affordable for Texans. I will do that by making large corporations pay their fair share, and by bringing ethics back to Congress. I have a full platform here: https://williammarks.com/beliefs
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.) I've been told MANY times that my viability as a candidate is based on my ability to raise money rather than my character, record or platform. I've had numerous endorsements withheld until I could prove my fundraising ability. That's a sign of a broken system. Candidates should be backed based on their character and their record, then the money will follow.
Have you ever held public office before? No
If yes, please list the office(s) and term(s):None
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not? Yes. As a veteran with numerous service-related injuries, I know how important pain relief is to the thousands of veterans hurting every day. Cannabis is a safe and healthier way to relieve pain for Texans.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis? Yes
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records? Yes, with special review in felony cases.
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors? yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones? no
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? Yes. We must overturn Citizen's United and limit donations to individuals rather than corporations or PACs. We must also restrict self-funding and create an equality-based campaign finance system closer to what McCain–Feingold envisioned (which was initially upheld by the SCOTUS)
Power Grid & Infrastructure: What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid? The ERCOT power failure of 2021 cost taxpayers $20 billion of hundreds of lives. It should be connected to the rest of the country for emergency situations, as well as increase solar and wind energy.
Immigration: What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care? We need a clear, simple and legal path to citizenship for those who have done everything right. I propose a maximum 2-year timeline for citizenship for those paying taxes and who have not committed a violent crime.
Property Taxes: Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? I don't have a huge problem with Texas property taxes as long as they stay progressive. Where we can help working class Texans is reducing regressive taxes such as sales taxes and high fees for government services.
Public Education: What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators? Overturn the voucher system which will only hurt rural and working class Texans. Get the 10 commandments out of schools (separation of church and state).
Women’s Rights: What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas? Hands off women's rights and bodies - each person must have the freedom to choose their own health needs with consultation by a physician - not a politician.
LGBTQ+ Rights: How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality? Leave medical decisions to the individual, parents and doctors - not the government
Healthcare: What type of healthcare system do you support? Universal healthcare
Healthcare: Please explain why you support that healthcare system? If we truly strive to be the "greatest nation on Earth" then everyone must have healthcare. I advocate cutting out the middle-man private health insurance companies for non-profit care managers.
Veterans & Homelessness: What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment? I feel veteran support in Texas is solid.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide? I have funded dozens of "tiny homes" with great success. These are small cabins with enough room to sleep and read, with a larger hub facility nearby for dining, laundry, computer access, mental health care, etc.
2nd Amendment: What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose? I would treat guns just like cars. They should have a VIN (ID), require a license and driving test, insurance and registration.
1st Amendment: How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas? I haven't seen the first amendment being restricted in Texas
Term Limits & Age Limits: Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not? Term limits yes. Age cap no. More importantly I would enforce campaign finance reform and a self-funding restriction, as well as remove the revolving door between Congress and lobbyists.
Why should voters trust and support your campaign? I have given my life and career to serving others, from a 22-year military career to receiving the Courage Project Award from the MacArthur Foundation.
If elected I will draft an ethics pledge for Congress - removing the revolving door between Congress and industry.
I will introduce a stock trading ban for Congress.
I will ban lobbying by former Congress members.
I will vote to prohibit foreign influence; there must be strict prohibition on all foreign gifts.
I will vote to overturn Citizens United. Dark money should be banned from politics. Political donations should only be made by individuals and families.
I support due process for all. We must defend the rule of law. You are innocent until proven guilty.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective? The best thing you can do to support me is join my Facebook page and donate to my campaign. Be careful who you donate to ... I love Bernie Sanders but he has $100 million in the bank and lives in a safe district. Colin Allred spent $70 million last year to lose by 10 points. Please support your local candidates.

How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
I am a student of Liberal Democracy as envisioned through the lens of Enlightenment Philosophy, but perfected more and more each day.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.) No. This is my first time running. Sadly (/s) for all involved, I am who I am. While I listen to my team and those I trust, it takes overwhelming evidence for something I believe to be right to change. And, it's been successful. I have great success in the Military with honorary promotions and have worked my way up to the White House, working for the Situation Room. What I do works, who I am works, why change?
Have you ever held public office before? No
If yes, please list the office(s) and term(s):None
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not?I support cannabis legalization at the federal level as a regulated substance similar to alcohol and tobacco. It has the potential to help veterans with PTSD, its less deadly than alcohol, and can raise significant tax revenue. The experiment of legalization is successful in many states already.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis? Yes
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records?Depending on the charge. Simple possession and sell yes. Trafficking to profit international crime organizations and anything related to death to innocent bystanders via DUI or gang related activity, no.
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors? yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones? No
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? Short answer, yes.And yes, Citizens United needs to be destroyed. But I believe that it's less focused on Finance and more on how voting takes place. Switching to ranked choice would change how candidates receive and use campaign funds while evening the playing field no matter how much money is raised.
Power Grid & Infrastructure: What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid? Energy Diversity = Sustainability, decreased pollution, jobs, national security, increased up time while keeping costs low and expanding the grid to tackle increased demand from data centers and Texas growth. Tax incentives and investing in education for skilled labor.
Immigration: What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care? My wife is from Honduras, came to the US as a teen and grew up undocumented. We went through the immigration process, and it's rough. We need a complete immigration overhaul. More money for immigration judges, work visas, labor categories and business requirements/needs, asylum seeker guidelines, business partnerships with Latin America, border protection and intelligence operations for stopping actual transnational crime.
Property Taxes: Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? Property tax is at the state and local levels and while fairness around retirees and low income earners should be reformed, many economists believe that property tax is the least regressive tax.
Public Education: What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators? Again, this is mostly and the state and local level. However, the Department of Education needs to be reinstated and well funded to ensure the United States has standards for a world class education system that teaches quality, secular education to all children no matter their economic situations, race, religion, sexual orientation, or abilities. Teachers also need the resources to teach correctly and be well paid.
Women’s Rights: What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas? Roe V Wade should be codified into federal law so that women in all states are afforded equal rights.
LGBTQ+ Rights: How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality? Equality to the application of laws and rights afforded to all Americans should not be abridged. LGBTQ people should have the freedoms to be themselves (1st Amendment), to have health considerations and decisions be private, safety should be guaranteed and discrimination should prosecuted.
Healthcare: What type of healthcare system do you support? Medicare for all
Healthcare: Please explain why you support that healthcare system?A national health care system would allow for fairness and sustainability while lowering costs by cutting out insurance middlemen and boosting national health through a priority in preventative care. I have lots of experience in the ER and a few close calls with insurance not covering the procedures. Not only would Medicare for all help the patients, but also the economy in that small business would no long be held back by trying to retain good talent because they cannot afford the best medical insurance plan.
Veterans & Homelessness: What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment? At the federal level, the VA should be fully funded. Not just medicare for all, but specialized treatment for our veterans. As a veteran myself with 2 tours in Iraq and a Tour in Afghanistan, we face certain issues that a majority of the population does not. We need medical treatment, alternative medical treatments. Education and housing benefits as well. It's a dangerous job and should be paid as such, in both pay and benefits.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide? Homelessness across the country is a big problem and needs to have resources added to it. Medicare for All, Tax payer funded educational opportunities (apprenticeships, paid internships, and 4 year higher education), physiological and dental help treated as medical issues, and substance abuse assistance need to be overhauled and funded. Additionally Sustainable Development, housing, and walkable infrastructure needs to change. Lastly, when someone is finished with their prison sentence, they need opportunities to work again.
2nd Amendment: What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose? I believe that the original translation of the 2nd amendment was to allow for the US to NOT have a standing Army, but instead state militias to prevent invasion. However, during the war of 1812 untrained militias were losing badly to British invasion. However, the amendment never changed as gun were becoming part of the national mythos and settler lifestyle. Today, we need reforms to protect our children in school, protect police officers doing dangerous work, and men and LGBTQ folks from suicide. Basic changes include storage laws, enhanced background checks, training requirements, club registration.
1st Amendment: How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas? I will protect the First Amendment rights of all Texans, including the right to speak out, protest, organize, and report the truth without fear of retaliation or censorship. Free speech and a free press are the backbone of any functioning democracy, and they’re under attack in Texas.
I will oppose any legislation that criminalizes protest or targets activists, especially those fighting for racial, environmental, or LGBTQIA+ justice. I will also fight back against book bans, curriculum censorship, and political attacks on educators and journalists.
You should not have to risk your safety or your job to stand up for what you believe in. The right to question power (including mine) is something I will always protect.
Term Limits & Age Limits: Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not? First amendment should never be abridged, to include the right of Unions to exist and assemble. Additionally, we need to start punishing politicians who even make mention (officially or unofficially) to disparage free speech, freedom of press, and the right to protest.
Why should voters trust and support your campaign? 3 reasons: 1) Best candidate with the most experience in Government, work, life, military, and family. 2) An actual campaign machine. I have the best team with historical wins against right wing extremists in the district and primary wins at the Federal level. 3) I have raised the most money and will continue to out raise my competition while using the funds judiciously and for the purpose of winning, not paying DC consultants.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective? I am a USMC Veteran with 2 tours in Iraq and a former Intelligence Professional with a tour in Afghanistan. I have worked from home construction to the White House. I have a Masters from North Carolina State University. My Wife and I have been married for 11 years and have a 5 year old. They speak Spanish at home, I try to. I am running as a continuation to serve my oath to protect the constitution and to bring real change to the working and middle class our our great country as well as raise all Americans.
Meagan Tehseldar
7/25/25
Full Name: Meagan Tehseldar
City/Town of Residence: Cypress, TX
Office You Are Running For: Governor of Texas
Party Affiliation (if any): Democrat party
Social media or website: @meaganfortx (on all platforms)
How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
My political philosophy is rooted in people over profit, care over control, and truth over convenience. I believe government should work for the people — especially those who’ve been left behind by systems designed to exclude them. That includes disabled Texans, working-class families, public school educators, immigrants, and queer communities.
I don’t believe in neutrality in the face of injustice. I believe in calling things what they are, protecting human rights with policy, and making decisions that center lived experience — not donor influence. My values are shaped by my roles as a mother, teacher, caregiver, and advocate. I believe that when we lead from the margins, we build a better Texas for everyone.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.) This is my first time running for office, and even before I filed, I was pressured not to run — both for local and state races — because party leadership had already “pre-selected” their preferred candidates. I was told I’d look unprepared, that I should wait my turn, and that challenging the status quo would reflect poorly on the advocacy work I’ve done in the community. But I’m not here to play politics — I’m here because the people most impacted by policy don’t have time for me to wait politely in line.
Gatekeeping is how we got into this mess. It’s why everyday Texans feel unheard and unrepresented. I didn’t get into this race to be liked by party insiders — I got in to fight for disabled families, teachers, caregivers, and working people. If pressured to act against my beliefs, I’ll handle it the same way I handled those early conversations: with clarity, transparency, and a commitment to the people, not the political machine.
Have you ever held public office before? No
If yes, please list the office(s) and term(s):None
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not? Yes, I support cannabis decriminalization in Texas. I’ve seen too many people lose jobs, custody, housing, and years of their lives over a charge that never should have been criminal in the first place. Our current laws target Black, Brown, disabled, and low-income communities while letting wealthier people walk away without consequences. That is not justice.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis? I support decriminalization as a starting point, but I also believe in full legalization, regulation, and safe access to cannabis. Veterans, disabled Texans, and people living with chronic pain or mental illness should not have to risk arrest to manage their health. We need to expunge past records, stop criminalizing survival, and start building policies that prioritize care, not punishment. Texans deserve better.
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records? Yes, I believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records. People should not carry the weight of a criminal record for something that is already legal in other states and widely used across the country. These charges have ruined lives, blocked access to jobs and housing, and broken apart families, especially in Black and Brown communities.
Expungement is not just about clearing records. It is about correcting decades of harm caused by racist and outdated drug policies. If we are serious about justice, then clearing those records has to be part of the solution.
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors? yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones? No,I am not accepting contributions from corporate PACs or corporate entities.
I am running a grassroots, people-powered campaign because I believe the influence of corporate money is one of the biggest threats to democracy in Texas. I’m not here to serve lobbyists or special interests. I’m here to fight for disabled families, public school educators, caregivers, and working-class Texans — and I’m accountable only to them. Every dollar we raise comes from real people who believe this state can and should do better.
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? Yes, I believe campaign finance reform is absolutely necessary. The current system rewards wealth and connections, not integrity or public service. It shuts out everyday people and gives outsized power to corporations, lobbyists, and the ultra-wealthy.
I support strict limits on corporate donations, a ban on corporate PAC contributions, and full transparency for all political spending. I also support public financing options that allow grassroots candidates to run viable campaigns without selling out their values.
We need a system where regular Texans can run for office and win — not just those with millionaire donors or party connections. Democracy should not be pay-to-play.
Power Grid & Infrastructure: What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid? The Texas power grid failed because politicians prioritized profit over people. To fix it, we need to move away from the current deregulated model that rewards private energy companies for gouging Texans during emergencies. I support re-regulating the grid, ending price spikes tied to disaster events, and holding energy providers accountable with strict oversight and penalties for negligence.
We also need to invest in modern, diversified infrastructure. That includes weatherizing plants, expanding battery storage, integrating renewable energy sources, and upgrading rural transmission lines. This is not just a climate issue or an economic issue — it’s a survival issue. Texans deserve a grid they can trust, not one that collapses every time the temperature shifts.
Immigration: What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care? I believe our immigration system should reflect human dignity, not cruelty or political theater. Texas has a responsibility to protect human rights, not escalate fear or violence at the border. I oppose policies like Operation Lone Star that waste billions militarizing the border while failing to address root causes or support families.
I support comprehensive immigration reform that includes a clear path to citizenship, protections for DACA recipients, and access to legal representation for asylum seekers. I also believe in fully funding humanitarian care, including housing, food, medical support, and trauma-informed services for those fleeing violence or instability.
Texas should be a place where immigrant families are welcomed, not targeted. We need smart policy rooted in justice, not headlines.
Property Taxes: Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? Yes, I support property tax reform, but not the kind that guts public schools while giving wealthy landowners and corporations a break.
Texas relies heavily on property taxes because the state refuses to fund its responsibilities, especially in public education. I believe we need to shift that balance. I support increasing the state’s share of school funding so local districts aren’t forced to raise taxes just to keep the lights on. I also support closing corporate loopholes that let commercial properties avoid paying their fair share.
Real reform means making the system more fair, not just cutting taxes. We need to protect homeowners, especially seniors and working families, while making sure corporations and billionaires pay what they owe. Equity and sustainability go hand in hand, and we can’t afford to keep choosing short-term political wins over long-term public good.
Public Education: What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators? My top priorities for Texas public schools are full and equitable funding, higher pay for teachers and support staff, and the protection of public education from privatization and voucher schemes. I support ending STAAR-based funding models and restoring local trust in educators by reducing unnecessary testing and bureaucracy.
As a teacher (who was raised by teachers and is married to a teacher), and a parent of a disabled child, I’m also fighting for a fully funded, inclusive special education system. That includes enforceable timelines for evaluations, stronger oversight of IEP compliance, better training for staff, and access to communication tools like AAC for nonspeaking students. I will push for a Texas Students with Disabilities Bill of Rights to ensure that all students (regardless of ability) are protected, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive in their neighborhood schools.
Educators deserve respect, resources, and a livable wage. Every child deserves a safe, well-funded, inclusive school, and I won’t stop fighting until that’s the reality across Texas.
Women’s Rights: What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas? My top priorities are fully funding public schools, raising pay for teachers and support staff, and ending the overreliance on high-stakes testing like STAAR. I want to restore trust in educators by giving them the resources, autonomy, and respect they deserve. That includes reducing paperwork, lowering class sizes, and providing mental health supports for both staff and students.
I will fight against school voucher schemes that defund our schools and push for legislation that protects LGBTQIA+ students and educators from censorship and discrimination. Every child in Texas deserves a safe, inclusive, well-funded public school, and every educator deserves a wage that reflects the value of their work.
LGBTQ+ Rights: How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality?I will fight to protect LGBTQ+ Texans through legislation, funding, and unapologetic visibility. I support passing statewide nondiscrimination laws in housing, employment, healthcare, and education. No one should be denied care, safety, or opportunity because of who they are or who they love.
I will work to restore access to gender-affirming care, especially for trans youth and adults who’ve had their rights stripped away. I will oppose all efforts to criminalize identity, ban books, or censor inclusive curriculum in schools.
Public safety also means protecting LGBTQ+ Texans from hate-based violence and ensuring that law enforcement agencies are trained to serve all communities with equity and respect.
Healthcare: What type of healthcare system do you support? Universal healthcare
Healthcare: Please explain why you support that healthcare system?I support a universal healthcare system because no one should go bankrupt trying to stay alive. I’ve seen families delay care, ration medication, or skip appointments because they simply can’t afford it.
The first step is expanding Medicaid in Texas, which would immediately cover over a million people and bring billions in federal funding back into our state. Long term, I support a transition toward Medicare for All or a similar public system that ensures every Texan has access to affordable, high-quality care, regardless of income, zip code, or employment status. Healthcare is a human right, and Texas should treat it like one.
Veterans & Homelessness: What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment? I believe we owe more than thanks to Texas veterans, we owe real, tangible support. I will prioritize expanding access to mental health care, especially trauma-informed services and substance use recovery programs. No veteran should wait months for treatment or be denied care based on red tape.
I will also work to increase funding for transitional and permanent housing programs that support veterans facing homelessness, including those with disabilities or PTSD. In employment, I support expanding veteran hiring initiatives, job training, and small business grants specifically for veteran-owned companies.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide?I believe homelessness is not a personal failure, it’s a policy failure. I support a housing-first approach that prioritizes getting people into safe, stable housing without preconditions. Once housed, people are far more likely to access mental health services, job training, and recovery support.
I will push for increased investment in permanent supportive housing, rent stabilization, eviction prevention programs, and expanded shelter options that are safe, affirming, and accessible to disabled and LGBTQ+ Texans. I also support better pay and protections for outreach workers and case managers doing this critical work on the ground.
2nd Amendment: What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose?I respect the Second Amendment, but I also believe with rights come responsibilities. What we have in Texas is not freedom, it’s chaos. I support common-sense gun reforms like universal background checks, safe storage laws, red flag laws, and raising the minimum age to purchase semi-automatic weapons.
I oppose permitless carry, which makes it easier for dangerous individuals to carry firearms without any training or accountability. As a mom and former teacher, I know what it’s like to live with the fear of school shootings. Texans deserve to feel safe in classrooms, churches, grocery stores, and their own neighborhoods.
I believe we can protect responsible gun ownership while also protecting lives.
1st Amendment: How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas?I will protect the First Amendment rights of all Texans, including the right to speak out, protest, organize, and report the truth without fear of retaliation or censorship.
I support term limits for elected officials, but I do not support age caps. Age should never be used as a blanket disqualifier — that’s ageist and ignores the wisdom, experience, and leadership many older adults bring to public service.
What we need is a government that reflects the people it serves. Term limits can help break up political gatekeeping and reduce the grip of career politicians who stop serving their communities and start serving themselves. I believe in accountability, fresh ideas, and shared power, not permanent seats at the table.
Why should voters trust and support your campaign?Voters should trust and support my campaign because I’m not here to play politics, I’m here to fight for people. I’m a mom, a teacher, and an advocate who’s lived through the gaps in our system. I’ve navigated IEP meetings, insurance denials, and underfunded classrooms. I know what it’s like to be unheard, overlooked, and told to “wait your turn.”
I’m not taking corporate PAC money. I’m not backed by party insiders. I’m running a grassroots campaign because I believe regular people deserve a seat at the table, not just the wealthy or well-connected. I’ve built my entire career on showing up, telling the truth, and doing the hard work. And that’s exactly how I’ll lead.
Trust isn’t something I ask for, it’s something I earn, and I intend to earn it every single day.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective? If you’re tired of politics being a closed-door game for the wealthy and well-connected, you’re exactly who I’m building this with. I’m running for Governor without corporate PAC money, without a political machine, and without a pre-cleared path, which means every donation, every share, and every volunteer hour actually moves us forward.
This isn’t a symbolic run. It’s a strategy to disrupt the status quo and bring working-class, disabled, and caregiving communities to the front of the line. If we want real change, we can’t wait for permission. We have to build it ourselves.
If y’all believe in public schools, disability rights, reproductive freedom, and a government that works for people, fund it, organize it, and share it. We’re not just running a campaign, we’re building a movement, and I need all the support I can get.

Political Perspective & Experience
How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
My political philosophy is grounded in the principles of fairness, dignity, and service. I believe that the government should work for people, not lobbyists and special interest groups. As the next congressman for TX-31, I will work to ensure that hardworking families have the support they need not just to get by, but to thrive. Whether you live in a city or a rural town, everyone deserves a fair shot.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.)
When I am elected, I will face pressure from leadership or special interests to vote in ways that conflict with my values, but I will be grounded in my core beliefs. I will listen, consider all sides, and stay grounded in the needs of working families. I won't compromise the trust of my constituents.

Cannabis Policy
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not?
Yes, I support cannabis decriminalization in Texas. We have seen many successful models across the country and around the world. Decriminalization allows law enforcement to focus on serious crimes rather than spending time and resources policing low-level marijuana offenses. That is a smarter, more efficient use of public safety resources. Decriminalization isn't just about personal freedom; it's about public safety, economic opportunity, and building a more just and modern approach to criminal justice in Texas.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis?
Yes, I support legal access to both medical and adult-use cannabis. Denying people safe and legal access to cannabis is a denial of personal freedom. Cannabis can help people living with chronic pain, cancer, epilepsy, and especially veterans suffering from PTSD. This is about giving people more options for relief, grounded in science and compassion. Texans deserve the freedom to make informed healthcare decisions for themselves, not have them blocked by outdated or politically motivated policies.
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records?
Absolutely. Cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records. Expungement is a necessary step toward fairness, justice, and truly repairing the damage caused by decades of discriminatory drug policies.

Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones?
I will not accept lobbyist, corporate, and foreign PAC money.
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support?
Yes. I believe we need to ban individuals from spending millions of dollars to buy elections. It is time to strike down Citizens United.
Policy Positions
Power Grid & Infrastructure:
What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid?
The need to improve the Texas power grid is urgent, and we have the tools and opportunities to do it right.
First, Texas should no longer operate in isolation. We must connect our power grid to the rest of the country's power grid. Doing so would allow us to bring in additional electricity during emergencies and help prevent the kinds of devastating blackouts we have already experienced. This is a common-sense step toward creating a more reliable and resilient energy system.
Second, we need to expand the amount of power we generate within the state, and that means embracing renewable energy. Texas has abundant land, sunshine, and wind. We can invest in solar farms, wind farms, and battery storage solutions that are ready to be built today. These investments would not only meet growing energy demand but also create thousands of good-paying jobs across the state, especially in rural areas.
We must also upgrade our aging infrastructure to support modern energy distribution. That includes updating transmission lines and building smarter, more flexible grids that can adapt to changes in demand and supply.
While we cannot eliminate fossil fuels overnight, we must take serious steps to reduce our dependence on them. The future of Texas energy must be cleaner, more sustainable, and more equitable. A stronger grid means safer communities, healthier families, and a more stable economy for everyone.
Immigration
What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care?
Immigration is deeply personal to a lot of families in Texas, and it should be treated with the seriousness and humanity it deserves. We need an immigration system that is secure, fair, and grounded in dignity. Yes, we need to enforce our laws, but enforcement should never come at the expense of human rights. Right now, too much of our immigration policy is driven by fear and politics, rather than facts and compassion. We are detaining families, separating children, and treating people seeking asylum as criminals. That is not who we are supposed to be. We need comprehensive immigration reform, one that provides a clear and achievable path to citizenship, protects Dreamers, honors the contributions of immigrant workers, and addresses the root causes of migration from countries impacted by violence, poverty, and climate change.
Property Taxes
Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability?
Yes, I support property tax reform, but it has to be fair, responsible, and focused on helping working families, not just giving more breaks to those at the top. Right now, too many corporations take advantage of tax loopholes like Chapter 313 and 403 abatements without actually creating jobs or contributing to the community. That shifts the tax burden onto homeowners, especially working class families and retirees. We need to close those loopholes. When large companies benefit from public infrastructure and services, they should pay their fair share. Period. That revenue should help fund our schools and public services, not line corporate pockets. We should also be using federal dollars to support local homestead protections. Cities and counties with aging populations or high numbers of veterans should not be forced to choose between funding basic services and keeping long-time residents in their homes. Matching federal funds to support those communities helps them remain strong and stable. Most importantly, we need to fund our schools at the state level and create federal incentives that reward states for doing so. Public education should never depend on the size of your local tax base. A child’s zip code should not determine the quality of their education. Property tax reform is not about cutting corners, it is about making sure our system is fair, our schools are funded, and our communities are supported.
Public Education
What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators?
When I was in high school, I read a Time Magazine article about how boys were being left behind in public education. That stuck with me, because what it really pointed to was a larger issue: our schools are too focused on conformity and not enough on curiosity. We’ve built a system where kids are expected to sit still, absorb information, and regurgitate it on a test. And if they don’t fit that mold, we label them as problems.
Programs like “No Child Left Behind” may have been well-intentioned, but what we ended up with was “every teacher must teach to the test.” We have taken creative, passionate educators and tied their hands. We’ve told them that success is a test score, not a child’s growth, not their confidence, not their ability to think critically or work with others.
I’m a huge proponent of the “Let Them Grow” philosophy—because not every child learns the same way, and not every success shows up on a Scantron sheet. We need to bring play, exploration, movement, and hands-on learning back into the classroom. And we need to give teachers the trust and resources to actually teach, not just test.
There is also growing research connecting the way we currently teach to the rise in attention-related issues in kids. If we know that, then we have to act. We can’t keep blaming the kids for not thriving in a system that was never designed for them in the first place.
Our educators deserve support. Our students deserve flexibility. And our schools should be spaces where every child has a chance to shine, not just survive.
Women’s Rights
What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas?
I have daughters, and it infuriates me that they are growing up in a state where their access to a medically necessary procedure is being stripped away. Abortion care is healthcare. It is no different than receiving specialty care for any other medical condition. Decisions about pregnancy should be made between a patient and their doctor, not by politicians.
On voting rights, I believe we need to expand access, not restrict it. Voting should be one of the easiest things to do as a citizen. That means automatic voter registration, more early voting, more polling locations, and protections against voter suppression. And while we are at it, I believe people should receive a simple breakdown of where their tax dollars go. Transparency builds trust, and it can even instill pride in how we all contribute to the common good.
When it comes to gender equality, this is not just a policy issue. It is a human rights issue. We need to ensure equal pay, equal protection, and equal dignity for all people, no matter their gender or identity. Let people choose how they live. Because choice is freedom. Texas needs to move forward, not backwards. That starts with respecting people’s choices, protecting their rights, and making sure everyone has a voice.
LGBTQ+ Rights
How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality?
Everyone deserves to live in dignity and safety, no matter who they are or who they love. That is not up for debate. I will fight to protect LGBTQ+ rights in every part of life; that’s healthcare, housing, public safety, and civil equality.
I also believe public safety must mean safety for everyone. That means protecting LGBTQ+ individuals from hate crimes and discriminatory laws. Texas should not be a place where people fear for their lives just walking down the street. And when it comes to civil rights, the work is far from over. I support the full protection of LGBTQ+ individuals under state and federal anti-discrimination laws in employment, housing, education, and public services. Equality is not something you earn. It is something everyone is entitled to.
Healthcare
What type of healthcare system do you support?
Medicaid expansion
Medicare for all
Privatized healthcare
Universal healthcare
Other
Healthcare
Please explain why you support that healthcare system?
I support a universal healthcare system because healthcare is a basic human right. No one should go without care because they lost a job, aged out of a plan, or couldn’t afford a premium. Tying healthcare to your job sends a clear message: that you are only worth maintaining as long as you’re producing. That is not humane, and it’s not the kind of society we should accept.
Texas must expand Medicaid now. It’s the fastest way to cover more people and save lives. Long-term, I support Medicare for All, but we need a transition plan that protects care and allows real choice.
That plan is, Texas must expand Medicaid now as a first step. Long-term, Medicare for All to get people to buy into Medicare. Then we can build toward a system that allows public options and lets people buy into Medicare before moving to a full, national plan.
Veterans & Homelessness
What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment?
Supporting veterans is not just good policy. It is a moral obligation. If we have the money to send people to war, we should absolutely have the resources to bring them home with dignity and care. That is why I support directing more of the defense budget to the Veterans Administration, so we can focus on care, transition, and quality of life for those who have served.
One of the most immediate steps we can take is expanding access to VA services, especially near military installations and in rural areas. Military bases should be part of the solution. They can offer space, structure, and jobs that create opportunities for veterans, especially those experiencing homelessness. Giving veterans a place where they can find community, support, and purpose is a step toward long-term stability and healing.
Mental health support must be a priority. That includes expanding telehealth, mobile clinics, and increasing the number of culturally competent providers who understand military life. Veterans should not have to wait in line for the care they earned. On housing, I support permanent supportive housing that combines a stable place to live with access to mental health care, addiction services, and job training. A roof is just the beginning. People need a path forward. We also need better job pipelines. That means translating military experience into civilian certifications, helping veterans start their own businesses, and providing tax incentives for companies that hire them. We need to stop making veterans start over from scratch when they leave service.
Veterans served this country. It is time this country serves them back.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide?
We need to stop treating homelessness like a nuisance and start addressing it as a solvable issue rooted in housing, healthcare, and dignity. My plan is centered around building walkable, supportive communities; places where people can live, work, and have access to entertainment, healthcare, mental health services, and substance use treatment all within the same area. We should be creating mixed-income, low-cost housing options that are integrated into existing neighborhoods, not pushed out to the margins. What if we showed homeowners that these developments could raise property values, improve public safety, and bring in better infrastructure, small businesses, and community services? There are cities around the world doing this well. They combine housing-first policies with job programs, social support, and design that encourages community rather than isolation. We can learn from those models. Tackling homelessness is not just about building shelters. It's about building opportunity, dignity, and belonging.
2nd Amendment
What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose?
I believe people have the right to protect themselves. The Second Amendment affirms that right in the context of a “well-regulated militia,” not unlimited access to weapons of war. There’s a difference between responsible gun ownership and the kind of unchecked access that puts our communities at risk.
I own a firearm. I’ve trained with weapons both in and out of the military. I understand what it means to hold that kind of power, and I also understand the responsibility and the cost that comes with it. Owning a gun, and especially taking a life, is not something that should ever be taken lightly.
That’s why I strongly support reforms like extreme risk protection orders, which allow families or law enforcement to temporarily remove firearms from someone in crisis. These laws save lives, and they still respect due process and the rights of gun owners.
We can protect the Second Amendment and still protect our communities. This isn’t about taking away rights. It’s about ensuring those rights are exercised with responsibility, regulation, and respect for human life.
1st Amendment
How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas?
Free speech is one of the most important rights we have, and I will fight to protect it. I wanted to be a journalist when I was a kid because I believed in truth-telling and holding power accountable. But today, I’m heartbroken by what I see: a media landscape where too many news outlets are afraid to speak the truth, and where real journalism is drowned out by conspiracy theory nonsense pretending to be news. We need to draw a clear line between facts and fiction. Free speech does not mean giving equal weight to lies that endanger public health, fuel hate, or undermine democracy. We must support responsible journalism and protect it from those who want to intimidate it into silence.
That’s why I support strong anti-SLAPP laws to stop corporations and politicians from using lawsuits to threaten reporters, activists, and everyday Texans who are simply exercising their right to speak out. These suits are meant to silence, not seek justice.
Term Limits & Age Limits
Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not?
I don’t support term limits or age caps for elected officials, at least not as blanket solutions. I deeply value experience and the institutional knowledge that comes from years of public service. That kind of expertise is hard to replace, and in many cases, it’s essential for governing effectively.
But with that said, there absolutely needs to be greater accountability; particularly when it comes to whether elected officials are still capable of understanding and representing the people they serve. Age or tenure alone doesn’t determine that. Instead of imposing arbitrary limits, we should be asking better questions: Can this person still engage with their community? Can they clearly articulate and respond to the challenges of the day?
Every time a young person under 30 runs for office, people question whether they have enough experience. Yet those same young candidates often have a deep understanding of what their communities are facing. On the flip side, long-term officials may have decades of experience, but that also means lobbyists and special interests often know exactly how to manipulate them, and the longer someone is in office, the easier it can be to forget where they came from.
Ultimately, it’s not about how long you’ve served or how old you are. It’s about whether you’re truly representing the people; whether you still understand their struggles and can act on their behalf. If we create systems that uphold that standard, we won’t need to rely on rigid term limits or age caps to fix a deeper problem.
Final Statement
Why should voters trust and support your campaign?
My campaign promise is simple: I will deliver compassionate, comprehensive support for all. That means listening to the needs of every community, standing up for fairness and opportunity, and ensuring no one is left behind. I promise to listens first, lead from the front, and work across divides.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective?

Political Perspective & Experience
How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
My political philosophy is grounded in service, fairness, and democracy. As an Air Force veteran, a machinist, and a union president, I’ve seen firsthand how communities thrive when we look out for one another. I believe government should be a force that expands opportunity, not restricts it. That means protecting the right to vote, strengthening public education, ensuring that every Texan has access to affordable healthcare, liveable wages, and keeping our promises to those who served. At the heart of my values is a commitment to people over politics and to building a Texas where every working family has the freedom to succeed.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.)
While this is my first campaign for public office, I am no stranger to pressure. As an Air Force veteran and union president, I have faced high-stakes decisions where lives and livelihoods were on the line. In those moments, I learned that integrity is non-negotiable. When elected, I will carry that same principle. My votes will be guided not by party leadership or donors, but by my constituents and my conscience. The people of Senate District 9 deserve a representative who will stand firm against intimidation and put their needs above partisan politics, donor dollars, or outside influence.
Have you ever held public office before? No

Cannabis Policy
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not?
I support cannabis decriminalization in Texas because it is fundamentally about personal freedom, economic responsibility, and supporting our veterans and folks in chronic pain. Nearly 50,000 jobs , from small business owners to hemp farmers, are at risk under the proposed bans, even as most Americans now live in states where cannabis is legal. Many veterans also turn to cannabis to manage chronic pain or PTSD, and they should not be criminalized for seeking relief or forced to risk opioid or alcohol addiction. What concerns me most is the hypocrisy coming from Republican leadership. If Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick truly cared about protecting children from ‘harmful substances,’ he would be as eager to take alcohol off store shelves as he is to ban hemp and THC. If he cared about their well-being, he would not have stood by while Governor Abbott slashed funding for summer meals that fed hungry kids. The same party that shouts about ‘small government’ is now playing morality police, willing to destroy small businesses, wipe out Texas hemp farmers, and kill an entire industry. This is not about public health, it is about control. It won’t make Texans safer, but it will put people out of work, shutter businesses, and hurt veterans. That’s why I’ll fight for decriminalization and against this brand of performative politics. Dan Patrick can spare me the hypocrisy.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis?
Yes.
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records?
Yes.
Transparency & Donor Influence led Section
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors?
yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones? Yes, I’m proud to accept support from groups like VoteVets, Texas Majority PAC, the AFT teachers’ union, and the machinists’ and other unions’ MNPLs. These are organizations that stand up for working families, public education, and progressive causes. What I won’t do is take a dime from special interests who expect politicians to sell out their communities just to turn a profit. This campaign is powered by workers, educators, veterans, and everyday Texans, not by corporate lobbyists.
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? Yes, campaign finance reform is essential if we want to restore trust in our democracy. Too often, elections are dominated by wealthy donors and special interests groups with dark motives while ordinary Texans are left without a voice. I support reforms that include greater transparency and disclosure requirements, stricter limits on corporate and lobbyist contributions, and closing loopholes that allow unlimited dirty money to influence our elections. Ultimately, our system should ensure that voters, not corporations or billionaires, are electing politicians.
Policy Positions
Power Grid & Infrastructure:
What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid?
Step one to fixing the Texas power grid is getting Greg Abbott out of office because he’s had years to do it and failed. After the 2021 blackout, Texans were promised solutions, but what we got instead was more deregulation and more profits for energy companies, while families were left freezing in the dark.
Moving forward, we must elevate the voices of experts and scientists who understand how to build a resilient and reliable energy system. That means fully winterizing our infrastructure, investing in renewable energy sources alongside natural gas, and ensuring Texas is better connected to the national grid so that our state has backup capacity in times of crisis. These are commonsense measures that put people over politics. Texans deserve a power grid they can trust — one that serves families and businesses, not special interests.
Immigration
What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care?
Immigration policy must be rooted in both the rule of law and the recognition of human dignity. I believe in due process and being detained should Being detained should never mean being subjected to torture, mistreatment, or tragically, as we’ve seen death.
Enforcement must be carried out with transparency, fairness, and respect for basic human rights. At the same time, much of the current "crisis" at our border could be alleviated through comprehensive immigration reform that provides more efficient and accessible pathways to citizenship for those who contribute to our communities and our economy. Texans deserve policies that balance security with compassion, order with opportunity, and justice with humanity.
Property Taxes
Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability? Yes, I support property tax reform. Right now, working families and homeowners are getting squeezed while big developers and corporate landlords walk away with subsidies and sweetheart deals. That’s not fair, and it’s not sustainable. We need to look at alternative revenue streams (like rescheduling and taxing THC/Hemp) so we’re not placing the burden on homeowners to fund schools and local services. And we need to stop giving away billions in tax breaks to big real estate and developers. Every dollar they are allowed to dodge, regular Texans end up paying. Property tax reform should be about equity, making sure the system works for everyday people
Public Education
What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators? My top priorities for Texas public schools are to ensure that teachers are paid as professionals, class sizes remain manageable, and every student has the resources to succeed. Texas should be a leader in teacher pay and in providing low student-to-teacher ratios that allow for individualized instruction. I strongly oppose school vouchers, which siphon resources away from public education and weaken the very system that serves the vast majority of Texas children. In addition, I will champion the expansion of vocational and technical pathways in our high schools, creating opportunities for students to pursue rewarding, good-paying careers without being forced into a one-size-fits-all model of higher education. Strong public schools are the foundation of our communities.
Women’s Rights
What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas? Freedom versus control. Texans deserve the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions, the freedom to cast a ballot without barriers, and the freedom to live with equality and dignity. But Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and their allies want control, control over women’s bodies, control over who gets to vote, and control over how people live their lives. That’s not liberty, that’s tyranny dressed up as politics. I’m running because I believe in a Texas where power belongs to the people, where our freedoms are protected, our voices are heard, and our future belongs to everyone.
LGBTQ+ Rights
How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality?
Y'all means All. Period.
Healthcare
What type of healthcare system do you support? Universal healthcare
Healthcare
Please explain why you support that healthcare system?
I support universal healthcare because I believe every Texan deserves the basic dignity of knowing that illness will never bankrupt them and that care will never be out of reach. Today, millions are uninsured or underinsured, forced to choose between paying rent and filling prescriptions. As a union president, I’ve seen how vital health coverage is for working families and how cruel it is when it’s denied. Universal healthcare would mean that no child goes without a doctor, no veteran struggles for treatment, and no Texan loses everything because of a diagnosis. This isn’t radical. It’s common sense. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. I will fight to make it a reality in Texas.
Veterans & Homelessness
What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment?
As a veteran myself, I take these issues personally. When I came home, I saw how many of my brothers and sisters struggled with housing, jobs, and mental health. That’s why I went to the Texas House to testify on House Bill 1078. A simple, low-cost, common-sense bill from Rep. Chris Turner that would have required any Texas workplace with more than 50 employees to display a free poster with veterans’ services information. Something that basic could have helped countless vets connect to the resources they need. But Republicans voted it down in committee, which told me everything I needed to know about their priorities.
As a senator, I’ll fight for real action by expanding access to mental health care, making sure no veteran sleeps on the street, creating stronger job pipelines from military service to civilian careers, and cutting through red tape so veterans can actually get the benefits they’ve earned. We kept our promise to serve this country, it’s time Texas keeps its promise to us.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide?
My plan starts with uplifting and resourcing the groups that are already doing this work in our communities. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. We need to support the organizations on the ground who know how to connect people to housing, treatment, and stability. At the same time, we have to recognize that homelessness isn’t just about not having a roof, it’s about losing the social fabric that keeps people connected. One simple house bill from Rep. Salman Bhojani last session would have made it easier for people experiencing homelessness to get a free Texas State ID. That may not sound like much, but when you’re on the street, these documents are too often easily lost. And without a valid ID, you can’t access housing programs, apply for work, or even get medical care. That bill was common sense, but it stalled in a Republican led committee. As senator, I’ll fight for practical solutions like that because sometimes the smallest barrier, like a lost ID, is the only thing standing between someone staying on the street or getting back on their feet.
2nd Amendment
What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose?
I own guns. I respect the Second Amendment, and I believe Texans have the right to own firearms. But that right comes with responsibility. Supporting red-flag laws, safe storage requirements, and universal background checks doesn’t take away anyone’s Second Amendment rights, it just keeps our communities safer. We also need stronger restrictions on weapons of war, which don’t belong in our neighborhoods. The fact is, the number one killer of children in America today is gun violence. We can’t look away from that. Protecting the Second Amendment and protecting our kids should not be in conflict. We can and must do both.
1st Amendment
How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas?
The First Amendment is fundamental to our democracy. Protecting the freedoms of speech, press, and peaceful assembly is not optional, it is essential. These rights ensure accountability, empower citizens, and keep government responsive to the people. As a senator, I will safeguard these freedoms by opposing any effort to suppress protest, intimidate journalists, or restrict speech.
Unfortunately, my opponent Leigh (Loretta) Wambsganss has made statements calling for protesters to be killed, even suggesting she would be the person to commit the murder of said protester. Such rhetoric is not only reckless, it is dangerous. It stands in direct opposition to the values of liberty and democracy. Texans deserve leaders who defend the Constitution, not those who threaten violence against their fellow citizens. I will always stand on the side of protecting the First Amendment because without it, all other freedoms are at risk.
Term Limits & Age Limits
Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not?
Yes. Public service should be about representing the people, not building a career for life. Fresh leadership and new perspectives keep our democracy healthy and accountable
Final Statement
Why should voters trust and support your campaign?
I have lived the struggles that so many Texans face and I have spent my life in service as an Air Force veteran, a machinist, and a union president. I know what it means to work hard, to fight for fairness, and to stand up for people who feel left out of the political process. , and I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. My campaign is powered by workers, veterans, educators, and everyday Texans, not corporate lobbyists or special interests. I am committed to representing the people of Senate District 9 with honesty, integrity, and accountability. This campaign is not about me, it is about us. And together, we're building a Texas where everyone has a fair shot.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective?
If you have made it this far and anything I have said resonates with you, I would be honored to earn your vote if you live in Senate District 9. If you live outside the district, I still ask for your support. We need resources to sustain this campaign, volunteers to phone bank and knock doors, and advocates to amplify our message on social media. This campaign is about more than one race; it is about proving that working families, veterans, educators, and everyday Texans can stand up to entrenched power and win. With your help, we will.

How would you describe your area of expertise or lived experience? Example: “Cannabis patient advocate,” “Veteran mental health policy,” “Harm reduction specialist,” “SB3 enforcement survivor,” etc.
Father. Victim of runaway capitalism. Advocate and Activist fighting for marginalized communities. Resistance Fighter.
How did you become involved in this issue? Tell us your story. Personal experience, professional background, activism, etc.
I was born to a refugee from Cuban authoritarianism/dictatorship. We lived on the low end of the class scale as I grew up. Over the past 10 years, my family has dealt with the constant pressure of being in massive medical debt due to an unfair and broken healthcare, sky-rocketing costs of living, and broken education systems. And while we barely keep up with the fight to keep our family safe and healthy, others are not so lucky.
Since the BLM protests, I have become more and more involved with the community and have expanded my circles and worked to understand what others are experiencing -- most everyone, particularly in marginalized communities, are living this experience as well. People are hurting, and they have been for a long time. After the election and subsequent inauguration of Trump this time around, I began to feel the need to DO something. Anything.
So I stepped forward and began finding local groups that were trying to make things right. Eventually, I found Fort Worth Area Indivisible and began joining meetings and events. I was asked to join the team as a lead to help organize and mobilize. Within a few months, I was asked to become Co-Leader. Our first event, the NO KINGS! rally on June 14, 2025, was one of the most successful progressive-minded and inclusive events in Fort Worth history thanks to the efforts of our entire team.
And we are not stopping now. We have re-structured. We are organizing. We are gaining traction. And we are spreading the word that authoritarianism has no place in Texas.
What do you want Texans to understand about this topic? A key message or truth people are missing or misunderstanding.
While Texas is traditionally a Republican stronghold, much of this is due to state-driven voter suppression, voter disengagement, misinformation, and lack of education about what is happening. Texans need to engage. Texans need to understand the process. Texans need to take a stand. Because that's what we do. We do NOT let anyone just walk in and take over. Not now. Not ever.

Political Perspective & Experience
How would you describe your political philosophy or values?
For the people. And I know that on the surface that phrase sounds like a cop out. It’s not. I want a world where people go to work, live their lives, can afford basic necessities like food, shelter and healthcare and where we all contribute to a capitalistic - but FAIR - society. There shouldn’t be billionaires and starving children in the same country. And calling that socialism is a lie that has been told for decades. There is a balance. Capitalism with guardrails is the way, and we are far from that at the moment.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.)
I haven’t. And in the office I’m seeking, I would never expect to. But if I ever did, I will never abandon my core principle - and that is that people deserve a representative democracy. They deserve representatives who accept feedback, and guide their votes on different legislation BASED on that feedback. Sometimes that will mean crossing party lines - and that is OK. Even if it’s not ok in the current political environment, I will fight to MAKE it ok again. People deserve representatives who listen.

Cannabis Policy
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not?
Absolutely. The benefits of cannabis have been studied extensively and by far outweigh the risks. And usually the risks are made up.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis?*
This is an interesting answer because in Texas, I actually do not support the medical cannabis program. It is cumbersome, expensive, and seeks to limit the other rights of individuals involved in the program.
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records? *
Absolutely 100%
Transparency & Donor Influence led SectioWill you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors?
yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones?
I will never, ever, accept money from a PAC that represents a cause that I have not already openly and publicly voiced support for. I will accept money from cause related PACS such as those that support public school funding, reproductive freedom, cannabis legalization and victim representation against big money lawsuit reform. The only potential corporate PAC I would accept money from would be associated with gambling legalization in Texas because the revenue would help reduce property taxes.
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support?
Citizens United is the worst thing to ever happen to the United States. It should be overturned immediately. Beyond that, I firmly believe that there should be an interactive system established that tracks every dollar to every vote. I am THAT serious about it.
Policy Positions
Power Grid & Infrastructure:
What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid?
Thanks to the inflation reduction act, Texas has actually made amazing strides towards shoring up our grid. Unfortunately that progress is in danger at the moment under the current administration. With the increasing demands for power - ESPECIALLY with the emergence of Ai, we have absolutely no choice but to expand our capacity through any means necessary. The current administration’s insistence on relying on fossil fuels is one of the most damaging things happening at the moment.
Immigration
What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care?
The American birth rate is down. The global birth rate is not. The first country that welcomes the integration of other cultures will be the country that survives in 100 years.
That sounded like “open borders.” It’s not. When you have an economy that is growing, you need people to support that economy. But that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be steadfast regulations in place to ensure that the individuals coming in are here for the right reasons.
This problem could be easily solved with bipartisan legislation. It has unfortunately become such an election season lighting rod that I’m not sure it will EVER be solved.
Property Taxes
Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability?
I absolutely do. People are being taxed out of their homes in Texas and the current state funding plan is unsustainable. The first step to meaningful property tax relief is ending school vouchers before they can ever take hold. In a state with a $28 BILLION budget surplus, it is unfathomable that people are losing their homes due to taxes - but the dirty little secret in Texas politics is the reason that Abbott won’t release the surplus is because he has plans to rapidly and massively expand the voucher scam.
Another way to reduce property taxes on middle class Texans is to end property tax abatements for multi-billion dollar corporations. They come here, take our land, take our water, and pay pennies for it while we can’t pay our bills.
And then there are alternative tax sources. Cannabis and legalization of gambling are two right off the bat. Texas legislating morality is literally kicking people out of their homes.
Public Education
What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators?
I want everything for our public schools. We keep bragging about being the eighth largest economy in the world while our public school funding ranks next to last. It’s ridiculous. A solid education is the number one precursor to a leg up in society. It is the MOST important thing we can and SHOULD do for the children of this state. That means the best teachers, the best curriculum, the best facilities … there is zero excuse for anything less.
Women’s Rights
What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas?
Forced pregnancy is reproductive slavery. It sounds extreme, but forcing a woman to provide biological labor against her will, for the benefit of another and under threat of punishment by the state is the literal definition of slavery.
On voting rights - Texas is one of only seven states that does not have online voter registration. There’s a reason for that. They simply do not want people to vote. There’s no other explanation.
LGBTQ+ Rights
How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality? The attack on the LGBTQ+ community is one of the most disturbing things currently happening in our country. Leave them alone. Let them have the same access to freedom, medical care, and rights as every other person in this country. I’m so sick of seeing them used as a scapegoat. Leave them alone.
Healthcare
What type of healthcare system do you support? Medicare for all
Healthcare
Please explain why you support that healthcare system?
We are the only developed nation in the world that doesn’t provide basic healthcare services for their citizens. It’s indefensible. Not only is it the right thing to do, but removing the layer of profit out of our healthcare system would be the number one deficit reduction action we could take as a country.
Veterans & Homelessness
What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment?
Veterans should unequivocally NEVER be without a home and access to any healthcare they should ever need. We made a promise to them when they signed up to serve our country and it’s abhorrent that their benefits are one of the first things on the chopping block.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide?
Robust rehabilitation programs that assist individuals back into the workforce. What so many people don’t understand is how hard it is to even apply for a job without a permanent address or a place to shower. Not to mention the expectations of years of tax returns to be approved for an apartment. We absolutely have to do better.
2nd Amendment
What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose?
I support universal background checks, red flag laws and proper storage regulations. If a child gets access to a gun and hurts themselves or others, the parents absolutely must be held accountable.
1st Amendment
How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas?
The right to peacefully protest is inalienable. Regulating free speech amongst popular news outlets or even across social media is a dangerously slippery slope. Blatant lies, slander or libel should be prosecuted. Everything else should be left to the general populace to freely discuss ideas.
This is a tough one.
Term Limits & Age Limits
Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not?
Term limits for presidents and governors absolutely. There is a danger in consolidating power at the top. I actually don’t support term limits for legislators, however. There is value in experience and if they are no longer serving the will of their constituents, then a primary challenger should be strong enough to effectively make that case.
Final Statement
Why should voters trust and support your campaign?
One thing that I have learned through this experience is that it is absolutely brutal to run for office. If you are actually in it for the right reasons and not a billionaire backed plant, the work that is required to build a winning campaign is nothing any normal person would or should sign up for. And when someone pushes through all of that anyway, those are the people that you really do want in office.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective?
I just want to get to Austin and fight for the people in my hometown.

Political Perspective & Experience
How would you describe your political philosophy or values? *
I believe that government needs to work for the people, not for big corporations or profits. My values are a blend of economic populism and social progressivism with the strong moral belief that everyone deserves food, water, shelter, and dignity. I want to build a Texas that works for every Texan and end PACs influences in Texas politics.
Have you ever faced pressure, intimidation, or threats from party leadership, donors, or colleagues to vote or act against your beliefs? If so, please explain. ( If this is your first time running please explain how you intend to handle these situations.)*
I haven't, this is my first time running and if and when subjects like these arise I have no problem publicly calling out the ones who will try to sway or pressure me to vote against my beliefs, I was raised to stand up to bullies and I have no problem doing it on a bigger stage.

Cannabis Policy
Do you support cannabis decriminalization in Texas? Why or why not?*
Yes I fully support decriminalization and legalization in Texas. I'm in the cannabis industry and seeing the blatant corruption of Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott actively going against the people is what inspired me to run. I have so many clients of mine who have had their lives changed for the better with the use of cannabis and anyone in charge who wants to take that away from millions of Texans just to fill their own pockets doesn't deserve the position they're in.
Do you support legal access to medical and/or adult-use cannabis?*
Yes, I 100% believe in medical use and that adults should be able to choose to take cannabis both medically and recreationally. Adults should be able to make decisions for themselves.
Do you believe cannabis-related convictions should be expunged from criminal records? *
One million percent yes, no one should be in jail or be treated as a criminal for a plant that is currently legal in over half of the country.
Transparency & Donor Influence led Section
Will you commit to disclosing all major campaign contributors? *
yes
Are you accepting contributions from PACs or corporate entities? If so, which ones?*
No
Do you believe campaign finance reform is needed? If yes, what reforms do you support? *
Yes it's needed, I believe that there's should be absolute limits on how much anyone can donate, fund or even gift to any politician and am figuring to end PACs influence in Texas politics. It should always be people over profits.
Policy Positions
Power Grid & Infrastructure:
What are your proposed solutions to improve the Texas power grid?
*
I want to completely weatherize the grid and take it nuclear. Texas gets too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter for people to have to worry about paying $300+ just to keep comfortable during the seasons. I also believe in public transportation such as buses and bullet trains. Better means of transportation means job opportunities, freedom, and less accidents on the road meaning that people's car insurance will drop as well with less people on the road.
Immigration
What is your position on immigration enforcement, reform, and humanitarian care?
*
I'm for better and faster paths to citizenship, I'm 100% against what I.C.E. is doing and I find their actions disgusting and deplorable. Everyone deserves due process and it's the only way to determine who is and who isn't an actual criminal. If someone has a clean record and has been here for over 5 years they deserve citizenship, if someone is a violent criminal deport them. It should be that simple. I believe in compassion over punishment, police reform with better deescalation training.
Property Taxes
Do you support property tax reform? If so, how would you ensure equity and sustainability?
*
I'm definitely for property tax reform, currently we pay some of the highest property taxes with some of the lowest wages in the country and that's unacceptable. There's currently over 2.1 million empty homes owned by big corporations holding out on a speculative market to sell high, raising everyone's property taxes and effecting everyday people like Grandma and Grandpa who are getting pushed out of their homes because they're on a set income. I want to tax companies that buy up housing 5% every 90 days to counteract their speculative market, build nonprofit affordable housing. I want to broaden revenue sources by taxing big businesses and cooperations, reform appraisals, and give direct relief to homeowners.
Public Education
What are your top priorities for Texas public schools and educators?
*
I believe in universal free childcare from ages 0-6, along with funding public schools, universal free school lunch, and funding community college and trade schools. Our parents and grandparents were promised the American dream with a high school education, that no longer exists so we have to move the goal closer to the goal post.
Women’s Rights
What is your stance on abortion access, voting rights, and gender equality laws in Texas?
*
I believe in free Medicare for all and that's as far as the government should be involved when it comes to medical work. I fully believe in women's rights to choose and that business should be left between a doctor and patient because let's be honest, if it were men who could get pregnant there would be abortion clinics on every street and no one would bat an eye about it, let women choose. I believe in automatic voter registration, mail in ballots, and making voting days state holidays to where people can leave work without a deduction of pay. Voting sounds be the easiest thing to do in America because everyone deserves to have their voice be heard.
LGBTQ+ Rights
How will you support or protect LGBTQ+ rights, including access to healthcare, public safety, and civil equality?
*
I believe in Medicare for everyone and what goes on between a doctor and patient should be between them. Everyone deserves the chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I will do everything in my power to protect everyone's human rights. Especially considering that there's currently more pictures of Trump with Epstein than there are trans comment athletes in our country, and I'll happily remind people what the real issues are and it's not trans people existing.
Healthcare
What type of healthcare system do you support?
Medicare for all
Healthcare
Please explain why you support that healthcare system?
*
Because it's the right thing to do, it doesn't matter if you're left or right when you take care of your people you have a better workforce, better quality of life, longer life expectancy and more freedom. Not having to choose between paying a bill or going to the doctor or buying a medication is freedom, having to choose between those isn't freedom, that's submission. Medicare for all also including, dental, eyes, and mental health because those shouldn't be a luxury either.
Veterans & Homelessness
What specific actions will you take to support veterans in Texas, particularly around mental health, housing, and employment?
*
My policies already directly help veterans but to go deeper into things, I want to use my affordable housing plan to give veterans a home, Medicare for all will lower the time it takes for them to see a doctor instead of relying on the VA and full legalization of cannabis means they can get the help they need without having to go through TCUP which forces them to relinquish their guns. I want to push for a UBI for every Texan making less than 150k a year which is currently 90% of Texans to give people a break and more freedom to move up in the world.
What is your plan to address homelessness in your district or statewide? *
I want to fund better shelters that have access to rehabilitation centers, community college and trade schools along with easier ways for the homeless to get an identification card. The biggest struggle that homeless people face when applying for a job is lack of transportation, no ID card, and no access to shower. No one makes it by themselves and the best way to set people up for success is giving them a foundation to stand on.
2nd Amendment
What is your interpretation of the Second Amendment and any reforms you support or oppose?
*
I believe in full accountability laws and the removal of private sells. If you are an irresponsible gun owner or seller and someone gets a hold of your gun or used a gun you sold to them without properly vetting them then you are going to be held accountable for that person's actions.
1st Amendment
How will you protect free speech, press freedom, and protest rights in Texas?
*
Free speech is what separates America from almost every other country, I believe in the first amendment and I've actively participated in plenty of protests myself. You have a voice you should use it.
Term Limits & Age Limits
Do you support term limits or age caps for elected officials? Why or why not?
*
I believe in term limits and something I'm going to push for in Texas government, having no term limits is an easy way for corruption to occur even if someone has the best intentions, I want to push for 3 term limits as Texas Governor and just like there's an age limit to run for office I believe there's should be a cut off at 65, when you get to a certain age the decisions you make have a higher chance of not personally effecting you but can deeply effect the people for years to come and that's not right.
Final Statement
Why should voters trust and support your campaign?*
The only way they should trust me is by me earning their trust, I'm a struggling Texan like many others are and like many of my fellow Texans in sick and tired of being sick and tired while our governor sits around and plays politics with the lives of Texans instead of being a leader. I'm not here to play politics I'm here to make life a little easier for every Texan and give Texans the well needed break and dignity that we all deserve. Currently 2/6 Texans live with food insecurity, 1/5 don't have access to a hospital within an hour, 1/5 don't have centralized AC, 1/5 don't have access to broadband Internet, and 1/5 trans lives under the poverty rate. That's unacceptable to me and it should be unacceptable to every other Texan when our state is one of the biggest economies in the world.
Is there anything else you want to share with the voters or the Grassroots Resistance Collective? *
Anyone that says that your vote doesn't matter is afraid of the power that your vote holds, if your vote didn't matter then there would be no reason to gerrymander Texas and create so much voter suppression so this is what I want everyone to do even if your don't support me, please go out and talk to your friends and family and see if they're registered to vote and if they're not, get them to do so. Texas currently has some of the lowest voter turn out and I believe it's because no one has given them a reason to fight for something they believe in. I've seen what happens when 400k Texans come together for a common cause during our constant fight against SB3 and other hemp related bills and it's the most powerful and beautiful thing I've seen in my life and what inspired me to run. If you want free healthcare, affordable homes, food on the table every night and a state that works for you then you have to go out and fight for it.
